I choose to work in communications because it’s a field where I am able to use my skills to affect change. Using my creativity and skills, I can support, convince, simplify, organize and enlighten. I can improve user experience on both the front and back ends of a website. I can polish content to be more engaging for a prospective student, and use best practices to create user-friendly websites with the information you need, when you need it.
In a given day, I’m writing, editing, designing, meeting with internal clients or managing projects – usually all of the above. It’s busy and hectic and I love it.
Since March 2013, I have been part of the communications team at Camosun College. I focus on strategic website communications, facilitating both internal and external communications through web and email design and coordinating related projects.
Previously, I spent three years with Sierra Club BC, where I stewarded a website redesign, developed their social media presence and brought their graphic design in house.
I also do freelance communications in graphic design, web design and document formatting.
I have highly developed technical skills as well as creativity, organizational ability and a commitment to excellence in the projects I undertake.
